When young Sanskar came to Sol’s ARC, he was only 7 years old. His school teachers complained that he was unable to follow basic math, and was finding it difficult to read and write. His parents, worried and confused at the situation, brought Sanskar to Sol’s ARC. Sanskar was diagnosed with Autism, which is a lifelong disability. His parents were shattered and worried if Sanskar would ever be like other children of his age, or will he be dependent on them their entire life.

At Sol’s ARC, we started teaching Sanskar in different ways, making it easy for him to learn. We realized, Sanskar was a smart child and by the age of 10 years he was able to read and spell words like ‘Autobiography’. Seeing his growth gave his parents and Sol’s ARC the belief that Sanskar can achieve many things in life, just at his own pace. Sanskar and Sol’s ARC grew together. As he grew older, his dreams started forming shape.

He shared his dreams, “I want to grow up and get a job. I want to go to office like my papa and earn money. I even want to getmarried and have a family.”

Through constant support from Sol’s ARC, Sanskar was able to complete Grade 10 through NIOS. He joined Sol’s ARC’s Skill Training programme, through which he underwent training in hospitality from ITM and also completed his internship from Park View Hotel and Big Bazaar.

Through the Skill Training programme, he was given an opportunity to learn and complete his internship at Amazon, which increased his confidence. During his internship, Sanskar was able to perform the tasks given to him, making him an ideal candidate to be absorbed in Amazon as an employee under the 100 Smiles Project.

At Amazon, he was placed as a Short Term Associate. “I wanted to have a job and earn for my family. The job that I have has given me a sense ofpurpose in life. I thank Sol’s ARC for being an integral part of my journey and helping me reach where I am today. My parents are very proud of me, and this makes me very happy.I now want to focus on building my physical strength, which will help me do better at my workplace,” said Sanskar.
